Villa scandal

The Villa scandal has taken its toll on Walpole.  See the Boston Globe article from today: http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2008/12/31/coach_rape_case_stuns_walpole/

The Boston Herald published a vivid report of the allegations against Villa here:

I feel very bad right now for the family of Mr. Villa.  It sounds like they are going through a tough period right now.

2032 Presidential Race

When I interviewed Noah McCullough a few months ago, I thought he was the only one running for president in 2032. Unfortunately, and I do mean unfortunately, I was wrong.
It turns out there is also Ryan Abshagen (abshagenin2032.com), Zach Larkin (zachlarkin2032.com), Nick Raftopoulos, and others.  They are all around my age, and they all have this vision of being elected president in 2032.
I am taking none of their campaigns seriously.
Although I am very inspired by their campaigns and I think it's great that, like me, they are interested in politics and the presidency, I find what they are doing silly and stupid.
More on this later...

Updates on my show:
I will be interviewing former MA governor Jane Swift live on December 13th.  Make sure to tune in then or submit your questions to me at sobar@wdisam.com.

William Ayers

I have gotten in touch with William Ayers, the radical education reformer and professor of education at the University of Chicago who is now in the center of a political controversy due to his apparent previous associations with Barack Obama.  He is out of the country right now, but has said that he would be open to the idea of doing an interview on my radio show when he gets back.
I am looking forward to the possibility of doing this - and am looking for your input and comments.  Please email me at sam@samobar.com.  I will keep everyone updated as to the status of doing this interview on my blog.

Sara Orozco interview

I just interviewed Sara Orozco, Democratic candidate for the state senate seat currently held by incumbent Republican Scott Brown (R-Wrentham).  Orozco was very well-spoken, and appears to have a very good chance of being elected.  I wish her well.
SamObar.com has been receiving very little website traffic lately.  I'm going to try to change that.

School begins tomorrow for all Walpole public schools, which is actually later than most other towns in the area.  As I discussed on my radio station, Walpole's start is very unusual.  School started in Plainville, Norfolk, Mansfield, and at King Philip High School today and in Foxborough yesterday.  Walpole is the last in this area of towns to start.
School started on a Thursday in Walpole last year too.  It's not exactly clear why.

Some of the upcoming Sam Obar Show guests I'm excited about interviewing on my radio show:
  1. James Roosevelt, Jr.: Grandson of FDR, co-chair of the Rules and Bylaws Committee of the Democratic National Committee.
  2. Sara Orozco: Candidate for State Senate, running against incumbent senator Scott Brown (R-Wrentham)
  3. Scott Brown: State senator (R-Wrentham), up for re-election this year
  4. Apollo Pazell: Democratic delegate who nominated Hillary Clinton to be the DNC's presidential nominee at last week's convention
  5. Tom Roache: Candidate for Massachusetts House of Representatives, running against incumbent representative Richard Ross (R-Wrentham)

Interview went well

My interview with Edward O'Reilly went quite well today.  Mr. O'Reilly is VERY well-spoken, has a lot to say, and has very firm and clear positions on the issues, all of which I agree with.  I have not interviewed John Kerry on my show yet, so I can't say whether I like Mr. O'Reilly better than Kerry, but I can say that he is a formidable candidate who, if I was a registered voter, would vote for in the primaries.
Unfortunately, it is likely that Kerry will crush O'Reilly, but maybe O'Reilly could run as an independent.  I'd also like to see him run for the state legislature or governorship.

Ed O'Reilly

I just got off the phone with Rebecca Kennedy, representing the Ed O'Reilly for Senate campaign.  She was very nice, but clearly was quite busy.  She had to put me on hold to take another call at one point during our conversation.
I scheduled an interview with Mr. O'Reilly this week, for an interview to be aired next Saturday.  For more information about O'Reilly, go to his website, EdOreilly.com.  I think he will be an interesting guest for my show.
Speaking of the ongoing US Senate race, not only is Kerry facing O'Reilly in the Democratic primary, but he is also facing opposition from Republican Jeff Beatty.  Kate Cantwell, his deputy campaign manager, still has not gotten back to me regarding possibly putting him on my show in the near future.  Please contact me Kate!
